Inked Avenue Reviews… “When Stars Collide” by Micalea Smeltzer

//When Stars Collide by Micalea Smeltzer//

5 Feathers

So… you’re in Vegas for a business conference, your itinerary includes the following:

  • Boring business meetings {yawn}
  • Lazy morning in your hotel room {Dreamy sigh}
  • A few late nights at the casino {I’m throwin’ hundreds, hundreds…}
  • Get drunk and confess your undying love for your brother’s best friend, who you’ve been crushing on for your whole life, get married Vegas style to said best friend, and wake up the next morning, naked, with a killer hangover.

Wait… WHAT?!?! Back up and explain!

After waking up in her hotel room, Thea Montgomery discovers that she has married the man who makes her heart beat a little faster, someone who she has hid her feelings for for years…Xander Kincade. Not particularly happy about her situation, she pushes him away lost in her fears and uncertainties. She always envisioned slowly falling in love with Xander. Taking the time to date, hold hands, kiss, and be utterly wooed by the man who had already swept her off her feet. But, Xander isn’t letting her get away that easily. Praying she agrees, Xander takes a breath and says…

“Give me the summer,” he pleads. “Give me the summer to prove that this is more than some stupid mistake,” he grates on the word, “and if at the end of the summer you still want a divorce then I’ll sign what ever you want me to.”

And that’s just the first two chapters, people. I have been anxiously waiting for Xander and Thea’s story since they were first introduced to us in Rae of Sunshine. I knew from the moment they shared a page that their story was going to be electric, and I’m delighted to say I was far from disappointed. This sexy, sweet, fast paced friends-to-lovers novel was a serious toe curling, squeal inducing, swoon worthy, and heart-melting romance. This is all due to the chapters full of Micalea Smeltzer’s magical words. Her talents truly shine in When Stars Collide, and pulled me in from page one causing me to give it five dreamy feathers.

His Touch is HeavenWhile this novel is lighthearted and sweet, the road to happily ever after for Xander and Thea was not an easy trip. Their journey was paved with many obstacles, set backs, secrets, and a lurking danger that threatened to tear them apart, but the bad times made the good ones that much sweeter. Their story was softened with moments of tenderness and care, moments filled with sizzling hot chemistry, and moments of quirky sarcastic humor that will leave you rolling.

I absolutely adored each and every word of When Stars Collide. It truly has it all. Characters you missed return, a hero that is so swoon worthy he will leave you head over heels, and a fierce fun-loving heroine you wish you could be best friends with. It’s a lighthearted contemporary romance with just the right amount of drama and just a sprinkle of angst.

XX,

Jennifer

CoverSynopsis:

We were like two stars orbiting each other—dancing around the possibility that one day we might collide. When we finally did, we opened up a black hole, obliterating everything around us. No one would be the same.
Least of all, us.

Waking up in Vegas married to the guy of your dreams sounds like a good thing, right? Not when you’re Thea Montgomery and said guy is your brother’s best friend.

Thea and Xander have always avoided the connection between them because her brother would never approve. Now, they’re married— the strongest bond you can have as a couple—and they’re not even a real couple…unless they want to be.

Thea wants an annulment immediately, but Xander’s waited too long to see her become his and he won’t let her go easily.

If she wants a divorce, fine, but he wants the summer to convince her that he’s the one. If at the end of the summer she still wants to end their marriage he’ll sign the papers, but until then…

All is not fair in love and war.

Book two in the Light in the Dark series but can be read as a standalone
