Inked Avenue Reviews… “Walk of Shame” by Lauren Layne

//Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne//

“I feel the breath knocked out of me, because there’s no more denying it, no more denying my heart. This is it for me. This is what I want, not just for as long as I can have it, but for always.”

Sexy, feisty, and witty with toe curling romance! Walk of Shame is addicting, delicious {eyes the donuts}, and wickedly hilarious!

Lauren Layne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her books never fail to pull me in and leave a goofy smile on my face. If you’re a fan of opposites attract, slow burning angst, and rom-coms you need this book in your life… like yesterday.

New York socialite, Georgianna Watkins has always enjoyed her easy carefree life… clubbing, drinking, planning events, falling into her sheets while the rest of the world is getting up for work… but lately she has found that her party girl lifestyle is starting to fall flat and makes her feel hollow and lonely. She’s genuinely adored by everyone she meets, well that is, except the cynical divorce lawyer who lives in her building. The fact that he hates her bugs her to know end and she doesn’t understand why she just can’t let him go. And why? She asks herself. Does she live for their 5 am run-ins?

Andrew Malroney is Manhattans most sought after celebrity divorce attorney. His pessimistic and sarcastic personality is the polar opposite of Georgie’s. And while he thinks Georgianna is gorgeous, he can’t stand the tabloid princess. Do you? Do you really not like her, Andrew? Personally, I think their 5 am run-ins are also the highlight of his day.

“Because I’m always going to be the girl who want the fairy-tale ending…”

I loved Georgianna and Andrew. Where he was closed off and unsure. she was an open book of positivity and confidence. Where she believed in the fairy-tale ending. He spent his days destroying the happily ever after. He’s adorably awkward and she’s the picture of confidence and assurance. Can you so PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER?!?!

Enemies-to-lovers novels, in my opinion, is the best kind of stories. Not only are they utterly delicious to read but the slow burning angst is always mind blowing. And Georgianna and Andrew’s ANSTY build up had me squealing in delight. Their verbal snarky sparring and sizzling sexual tension had me turning the pages so fast I thought my kindle was going to short circuit. The pace at which they transitioned from enemies to friends to lovers to so much more was always laced with attraction and wit.

Everything about this novel flowed with effortless finesse and I adored EVERY. SINGLE. PAGE. And I would have read it all in one sitting had I not started so late and accidentally fell asleep on my couch in the early hours of the morning because my eyes refused to stay open. This five star novel had me laughing, tearing up, gasping, smiling, and swooning! If you are a fan of witty banter, snark, angst, and happily ever afters  then one click this novel NOW!!

xx,

Jennifer

walk of shameSynopsis

Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the USA Today bestselling author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.
