Inked Avenue Reviews… “Bad Penny” by Staci Hart

*twirls in a giddy circle*

From that first lick of ice-cream I was head over heels for this playful romance! It is pure romantic comedy GOLD!!! The world Staci Hart created with Bad Penny is a magical pink bubble full of all the dirty jokes, ice-cream, a swoon-worthy hero, and a bold and fearless heroine!

“They call her boy crazy like it’s a bad thing.”

Penny, Penny, Penny…. First off, can I just say that it’s so refreshing to read a heroine that is unapologetically herself and OWNS it 100 percent! Her confidence seriously made me green with envy. 🙂 She is, by far, my favorite and the most original heroine that Staci Hart has ever written. She’s a sassy headstrong firecracker who lives by her own rules, paying no mind to what others think of her. She’s a tattooed sparkling gem!

But like any girl, she can go a bit crazy at times, which is why she has the three date rule set in stone because nothing good comes after the third date…. well… until she meets Bodie, that is.

“Because he was art with a heartbeat.”

*wipes drool from chin*

Bodie was seriously dreamy in all of his geeky charm! There is nothing hotter than a supremely sexy man who is beyond smart and witty! And if you say I’m wrong, you are a liar. The thing I loved the most about Bodie was that he let Penny fly. He didn’t try to change her or ask for anything in return, he just loved Penny with understanding and care. Giving her the space and time she needed to make room for him in her life. It was a refreshing role reversal and Staci completely nailed it! He gave me all the warm and fuzzies and stole my heart from the moment I was in his head!

The two of them together was… intense, sinfully sexy, and scorching HOT!!! And the ANGST… My goodness, it was WHITE HOT!! From the moment they laid eyes on each other the sexual tension was palpable! I’m always amazed with Staci Heart’s novels but this is, by far, her most brilliant novel to date and is my favorite book she has ever written!

Gold! Pure GOLD!!

P.s. I’ll never be able to look at lips the same way again! 🙂

Bad Penny 3Synopsis

Nothing good comes after the third date.

See, date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he gets weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.

Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.

So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked and can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.

Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

//Author Bio//

Bad Penny 5

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
